- Confirm the working title to be used on the filing.
- Confirm the named inventor(s).
- Confirm whether any public disclosure has already occurred.
- Keep the white paper site private until filing strategy is decided.
- Check the specification for any omitted embodiments.
- Check the claim set for preferred broad and narrow positions.
- Convert the figure packet into formal line drawings if desired before or after provisional filing.
- Decide whether to include deterministic-identity embodiments as optional or preferred.
- Preserve code traces, white papers, and container specifications as supporting invention records.
- Have a patent attorney or agent examine the package before filing if possible.
